Director Cyril Aris is invited to the 27th edition of the Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille alongside composer Anthony Sahyoun to revisit their collaboration on the film Un monde fragile et merveilleux, presented as part of the Duets. This Off-Competition Program highlights enduring partnerships between directors and composers—faithful collaborations that, film after film, captivate the eye and resonate with the ear.


Cyril Aris is a Lebanese director and screenwriter, and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. His first fiction feature, Un monde fragile et merveilleux (2025), premiered at the Giornate degli Autori section of the Venice Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award, and was selected as Lebanon’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars. The film also screened at BFI London and Seminci (Valladolid), and received numerous international awards, including the Grand Prize at the Rencontres cinématographiques in Cannes and Best Film at the Asian World FF (Los Angeles).

His documentary Danser sur un volcan (2023) premiered in competition at Karlovy Vary, where it won a Jury Special Mention, and was screened at over 80 festivals worldwide.

His debut feature documentary, La Balançoire (2018), was also presented at Karlovy Vary and received multiple international awards.
