JÉRÔME REBOTIER
CONDUCTOR OF THE 2026 MASTERCLASS
Composer Jérôme Rebotier will lead our Masterclass in Music Composition for Screen from March 25 to April 4, 2026, organized with the support of Sacem. This professional development programme offers emerging composers ten days of intensive training to create original scores for a selection of short films, which they will perform live at the festival’s closing night.
An eclectic musician and multi-instrumentalist, moving from classical writing to more experimental pieces and even songs, Jérôme Rebotier is known for having composed around thirty feature-film scores, as well as an equal number for documentaries. Deeply attached to the relationship between music and image—through which, in his view, music fully comes into its own—he has always sought to multiply encounters and conversations of all kinds.
After studying classical music as a child in Mulhouse, he explored the work of major pop-rock figures such as David Bowie and the Beatles, while also developing an interest in more experimental and sound-based practices, notably those of Pierre Schaeffer.
He has written music for films by Emmanuel Mouret, Tonie Marshall, Philippe Harel, Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, Delphine Gleize, Laurent Larivière, and Martin Bouboulon. The diversity of his writing leads him to work on both classical and more pop-oriented scores, and to pursue a wide range of collaborations.
He has also written songs for artists such as Horace Andy (Massive Attack) and Olivia Ruiz, and collaborated with Agoria, Hugues Coltman, Rover, and Nicolas Becker.
In 2020, he founded the label Robotic Productions, through which he produces independent artists including Party Side B, Edgar Novak, and K.N.D.N.S.
Jérôme Rebotier is also a writer. His first novel, Dans la cour, published on March 9, 2023 by Éditions Héliopoles, tells the story of a teenager who overcomes a difficult childhood through music. He is currently working on a new novel scheduled for release in 2026.
