From his first short films, Chambre froide (2000) and Dans l'ombre (2004), Olivier Masset-Depasse has portrayed determined female characters willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. Both shorts won around sixty awards at festivals worldwide.
His second feature film, Illégal, a social drama centered on illegal immigration, received the SACD Prize at the 42nd Directors' Fortnight in Cannes and was nominated for the 2011 César Awards.
In 2014, he directed a television film for CANAL+, Sanctuaire, a historical drama that won two FIPA d’or at the Biarritz Festival.
In 2019, Duelles, a psychological thriller, was presented as a special presentation at TIFF and enjoyed critical acclaim in the United States. He then turned to action cinema, directing the third installment of Largo Winch, released in 2024.
