Olivier Masset-Depasse

DIRECTOR

Director Olivier Masset-Depasse is invited to the 27th edition of the Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille alongside composer Frédéric Vercheval to revisit their collaboration on the film Duelles, presented as part of the Duets. This Off-Competition Program highlights enduring partnerships between directors and composers—faithful collaborations that, film after film, captivate the eye and resonate with the ear.

From his first short films, Chambre froide (2000) and Dans l'ombre (2004), Olivier Masset-Depasse has portrayed determined female characters willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. Both shorts won around sixty awards at festivals worldwide.

His second feature film, Illégal, a social drama centered on illegal immigration, received the SACD Prize at the 42nd Directors' Fortnight in Cannes and was nominated for the 2011 César Awards.

In 2014, he directed a television film for CANAL+, Sanctuaire, a historical drama that won two FIPA d’or at the Biarritz Festival.

In 2019, Duelles, a psychological thriller, was presented as a special presentation at TIFF and enjoyed critical acclaim in the United States. He then turned to action cinema, directing the third installment of Largo Winch, released in 2024.
