Romain Camiolo

COMPOSER · SHORT FILM JURY

Composer Romain Camiolo is a member of the short film competition jury at the 27th edition of the Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille

Composer and pianist, Romain divides his artistic life between film music composition, performance, and teaching. Trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon (Master’s, 2018), he has been pursuing a PhD in composition at the Université de Montréal since 2019, co-supervised by Ana Sokolovic and Serge Cardinal, focusing on the cine-concert. Deeply committed to live performance, he composes for opera and cine-concerts and collaborates with the Institut Lumière to accompany silent films.

Today, he writes for animated films, fiction, documentaries, and choreographic projects. In 2021, he composed the score for the short Chanson pour le Nouveau Monde and the feature Cette Maison (Berlinale 2022).

His musical universe blends instrumental music, symphonic aesthetics, minimalism, and timbral experimentation.
