THE MCM UNVEILS THE POSTER
FOR ITS 2026 EDITION
At the Festival international Music & Cinema Marseille (MCM), each edition marks a turning point — and 2026 promises to be a bright one.
The MCM is unveiling the official poster for its next edition, to be held from March 30 to April 4, 2026. This new creation is part of a visual sequence initiated in 2024, conceived as a graphic narrative that unfolds and evolves year after year.
Illustrator Martin Carrese continues to stage his two protagonists, whose forward momentum embodies both determination and the growing presence of women creators in the fields of music and cinema.
By imagining this scene, the artist presents an MCM in motion, rooted in the heart of Marseille and driven by action. This choice echoes the festival’s own momentum: last year, MCM welcomed more than 31,000 audience members, screened 328 films, and hosted 1,000 accredited professionals.
“These figures confirm the MCM’s position as a major international meeting point for film and music professionals,” says Gaëlle Rodeville, General Delegate of the Festival.
A program to be revealed soon
Once again this year, several flagship programs will shape the week, offering audiences an immersive journey into the world of music for the screen.
After welcoming some of the most influential names in screen composition — including Gabriel Yared, Bruno Coulais, Howard Shore, Ibrahim Maalouf, Rachel Portman, Stephen Warbeck, Jocelyn Pook, among many others — MCM continues its commitment by inviting artists whose work resonates on the international stage.
The Cartes blanches dedicated to the festival’s guests of honour — whose names will be announced soon — will spotlight the careers of renowned artists, while the Accord en duo program will bring together established composer–director tandems, invited to share their creative processes and the alchemy behind the making of a film score.
With Ils et elles repasseront par là, the festival will highlight artists who have taken part in its professional development programs and who now pursue international careers. Meanwhile, the Coup de cœur program will give renewed visibility to powerful films that have received too little exposure.
Finally, the Short and Feature Film Competitions will present an international panorama of some of the most inventive cinematic voices emerging across Europe.
New Venues
The heart of MCM will once again beat at Artplexe Canebière, which will host the majority of screenings and public events. For the 2026 edition, however, a major new development concerns the closing ceremony, which will take place at La Criée – Théâtre National de Marseille, reaffirming the festival’s presence within the city’s leading cultural institutions.
The program will also extend across several emblematic cultural venues in Marseille, including the Conservatoire Pierre Barbizet de Marseille — part of Campus art Méditerranée — the Bibliothèque l’Alcazar, Les Variétés cinema, Videodrome 2, the Mucem, as well as many other local cultural partners.
Far more than a cultural event
Beyond its artistic programming, MCM carries a strong commitment to film education and social inclusion. Throughout the year, the festival works with schools through workshops, educational screenings, and meetings led by film and music professionals. Many of these projects culminate during the festival, with public screenings that highlight the creativity and engagement of all participating audiences.
The festival also reaches out to communities further removed from cultural offerings through initiatives such as GRANDIR and Les Bons Bails, as well as renewed partnerships with the Marseille University Hospitals (AP-HM), Lieux Fictifs, and the Studio Image et mouvement of SAS des Baumettes in a prison setting.
By bringing together artists, cultural mediators, and social organizations, MCM affirms a clear ambition: to make cinema and music powerful tools for openness, learning, and connection — for everyone.
