LES COURTS DU LAB ON MARS

Les Courts du Lab on Mars est un nouveau programme qui met en lumière des courts métrages accompagnés par le Marché international de la composition musicale pour l’image, un espace de rencontres où les équipes de réalisation et de production rencontrent, au MCM, des compositeur·trices pour donner une voix musicale à leur film. Trois pépites à découvrir : Nul homme n’est une île de Khalil Cherti, Bord à bord de Sahar El Echi et XY d’Alice Gadbled.

BRAUNSCHWEIG INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (BRAUNSCHWEIG, ALLEMAGNE)

Founded in 1987, the Braunschweig International Film Festival (BIFF) – one of the largest festivals in northern Germany – focuses particularly on young European cinema and film music. With The Boy Who Made the Hills Dance, this feature film takes you on a unique journey to the heart of Macedonia. A warm and humorous coming-of-age story about tradition and identity, accompanied by an excellent soundtrack and... a pink sheep.

IN THE PALACE INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL (PERNIK, BULGARIE)

A pioneer of short films in Bulgaria, the IN THE PALACE International Festival is one of the oldest in the Balkans. For the MCM, it is offering a program of short films featuring characters in search of identity and freedom. It is a committed selection, where cinema asserts itself as a space for resistance and emotion.

TRICKY WOMEN/TRICKY REALITIES (VIENNE, AUTRICHE)

Created in 2001, the Tricky Women/Tricky Realities festival occupies a unique place on the international scene thanks to its commitment to the intersection of animation and women's rights. The Spaces of Resonance program, conducted in collaboration with the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, highlights bold works by female and/or genderqueer artists. This carte blanche brings together eight short films that reveal the sensitivity and vitality of Austrian animation.

SEEYOUSOUND INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FILM FESTIVAL (TURIN, ITALIE)

Created in Turin in 2015, Seeyousound is Italy's first festival dedicated to the links between cinema and music. Throughout the year, it offers a rich and varied program that explores music in all its forms through screenings and exhibitions. This carte blanche invites viewers to discover music as a space for social and political expression, through the portrait of a major icon of Iranian pop culture. A screening that will resonate particularly strongly in the current context.

YUKUNKUN PRODUCTIONS

Nelson Ghrénassia, director of the production company Yukunkun Productions, conceived this carte blanche as a resolutely eclectic space, inviting the audience to discover a playful collection of five bold and socially conscious short films. From experimental documentaries to intimate dramas, comedies, edgy triptychs, and tense reunions, these five films feature original musical compositions, some of which were inspired by encounters initiated at the MCM.

LA FÊTE DU COURT-MÉTRAGE

To close La Fête du court-métrage, come and discover a selection of animated films in a variety of styles and forms, each accompanied by powerful original music reflecting the plurality of artistic perspectives and inspirations. Forming a multifaceted mosaic, these films celebrate the richness of short animation, cultural diversity, and the uniqueness of contemporary imaginations.

MOSTRA QUEER BRASIL

Conceived with Ricky Mastro, a key voice in Brazilian queer cinema, and in collaboration with the Consulate General of Brazil and the Instituto Guimarães Rosa, Mostra Queer Brasil is a vibrant meeting place where queer imaginations can flourish freely.

Spanning three events, this cinematic journey includes Cidade; Campo by Juliana Rojas and Motel Destino by Karim Aïnouz. And because stories also continue in bodies in motion, the Mostra continues at Blum with a Brazilian DJ set evening, designed as a joyful and unifying celebration.

ARTE

For its first screening, ARTE presents two medium-length films that evoke the vulnerability of bodies and hearts: Seule la tendresse (Only Tenderness) and Dans une chimère (In a Chimera). Next, ARTE and Les Valseurs invite us to dive into the heart of the Samuel series by broadcasting all 21 episodes. Samuel, a black-and-white animated series created by Émilie Tronche, will be followed by a DJ set featuring music from the 2000s.

Times are tough. More than ever, we need our storytellers. These young filmmakers who know how to capture the humor of an exchange, the poetry of a romance, or the music of a life in a short story, and offer it to us in a short film like a little spark of happiness, waiting to become the Toledanos, Nakaches, or Klapischs of tomorrow. Year after year, the Courts qui rendent heureux (Short Films that Make You Happy) tell little stories that warm our hearts, make us laugh, or make us want to sing.

CARTE BLANCHE LA SATIS

Every year, students at La Satis, the public film school at the University of Aix-Marseille, produce around a hundred films. From fiction to documentaries, photographic narratives to audio fiction, this program offers an eclectic kaleidoscope of creations from the year 2025.

REGARDS CROISÉS

As part of the Regards Croisés program, the MCM—in collaboration with the Musique pour l’Image course at La Satis, the public film school of the University of Aix-Marseille—is hosting the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Spain), the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater (Estonia), Kunstuniversität Graz (Austria), and MSCN Films Music Festivals Academy for a musical composition residency for film. This carte blanche showcases their work.

TRANSVERSARTS

For 13 years in Marseille, Transversarts has been working to promote social mediation through images by enabling everyone to take their first steps in audiovisual creation. On the occasion of the MCM, Transversarts invites you to discover eight fiction films written and directed by more than fifty Marseille residents and directed by young local filmmakers. Come and meet the teams and chat with them during a convivial evening. Please note that the film screening is not open to children under the age of 13.

MASTER DOC

Offered by the Master's program in Documentary Writing: Research and Creation, dedicated to teaching the design and production of documentary film projects, this session highlights personal films made as part of the Documentary Writing program at the University of Aix Marseille. Four first cinematic endeavors, born from the students' desire to narrate the world through the uniqueness and diversity of their perspectives.

REMISE DES PRIX DU SIRAR

Following the SiRAR 2026 Awards ceremony, enjoy a preview of the 2025 winning film, Odette et Colette entrent en résistance by Louison Bergman, with music by Alexandre Haudiquet. SiRAR is a unique initiative that supports the creation of first short films and their music, with main support from the Région Sud, Laser, and La Satis, and in partnership with the Fédération de la Jeune Production Indépendante.

CLUB CINÉMATRIX

Come and discover the program offered by the MCM at Club Cinématrix, a Marseille-based association of filmmakers and technicians with a diverse background (women and queer people). Using films, rushes, files, scripts, and research, they collectively question their creations and production processes. This sharing of experiences and resources allows them to enrich their artistic and human vision of cinema, while fighting against isolation, devaluation, and exclusion.
