1958, alors que la révolution gronde à Beyrouth, trois sœurs passent l’été dans un village reculé de la montagne libanaise. Il y a Nada, la rebelle, Eva, la romantique et surtout Layla, l’aînée, bien sous tous rapports et appréciée de tous. Mais cet été là, le danger de la guerre qui approche et l’arrivée de deux estivants français, poussent Layla, mère et épouse parfaite, à envoyer valser les apparences et à se révolter contre cette société patriarcale qui la tient sous contrôle.

1958, while the revolution is rumbling in Beirut, three sisters spend the summer in a remote village in the Lebanese mountains. There is Nada, the rebel, Eva, the romantic and especially Layla, the eldest, well liked by all. But that summer, the danger of the approaching war and the arrival of two French summer guests push Layla, a perfect mother and wife, to throw away all appearances and to rebel against the patriarchal society that keeps her under control.
