The opening night marks the start of 6 days of "cinema-musical" confluences: screenings, film-concerts, Master Classes, professional meetings, for all audiences and all ages. Six days of festivities suspended between music and cinema. On this occasion, discover in preview Murina by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic.

A warmheartedly presentation of a film off competition: Murina by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic. The screening will take place in the presence of the director.

Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic - Réalisatrice

Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic is a writer-director born in Dubrovnik, based in New York.

Her short film Into the Blue, was nominated for a Student Academy Award, and won several awards at the Berlin International Film Fesival, Sarajevo Film Festival, Oberhausen Film Festival, and the Antoneta’s first feature film Murina developed with support from the Résidence du Festival Cannes, Cinéfondation, First Films First by the Goethe-Institute, and Jerusalem Film Lab is produced by Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia, RT features and Antitalent.

Antoneta holds an MA from Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb and an MFA in screenwriting and directing from Columbia University in New York. Antoneta is an alumna of the Berlinale Talent Lab, Sarajevo Talent Lab, La Femis Producing Atelier, and the Marcie Bloom Fellowship.

Sacha Galperine, Evegueni Galperine - Compositeurs

Evgueni and Sacha Galperine are Russian, born French, film score composers and brothers. They were born in Russia and studied music in Moscow, but moved to Paris, France, in 1990.

In 2012, they were nominated for the Goya Award for Best Original Score for Eva, by Kike Maíllo. The Galperine brothers wrote the music for the 2017 film Loveless, by Andrey Zvyagintsev, after hearing a synopsis of the story, but without seeing any image or reading the screenplay.

Evgueni Galperine said the piece 11 Cycles of E was written as an interpretation of a parent’s thoughts, with the parent only being able to think about how a missing child who must be found. Critic David Ehrlich named Evgueni and Sacha Galperine‘s score as the ninth best cinematic soundtrack of 2017, particularly praising 11 Cycles of E as “striking”. For Loveless, the brothers jointly won the European Film Award for Best Composer.

The sensibility and experience of those talented composers, associated to their relationship with Eastern Europe are essential in their creative process.
